Visit statistics
To see which pages are read and which downloads are used, every page view is counted. Each count is one line with:
- the page address (without anything after a
?) and the time, - the country, worked out from your IP address on this server and then forgotten,
- your network with the last part removed (for example
203.0.113.0), which is not enough to find a person, - your browser family, system and device type (for example "Firefox, Windows, Desktop"), never the full browser text,
- the website you came from, as a host name only,
- a one-day code: a scrambled value made from your address and browser with a secret that is thrown away every night. It lets the site count you once per day. It cannot be turned back into your address and cannot be matched from one day to the next.
Your full IP address is not stored with these lines, and no cookie or other identifier is placed on your device for them. The lines are deleted after 395 days.
The reason is our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time with the button below, and nothing about you is counted from then on. Browsers that send Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track are never counted.
Security log
To protect the site, important events are written to a log: logins and failed logins, errors, blocked or suspicious requests (for example someone trying to guess a password or looking for admin pages), and changes made by the owner. For these lines your IP address is stored, encrypted, so that an attack can be traced and blocked. Only the site owner can read it, and the lines are deleted after 90 days. The reason is our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies
| Cookie | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
cms_consent | Remembers your choice on this page | 180 days |
.AspNetCore.Antiforgery.* | Protects forms against forged requests | Until you close the browser |
.AspNetCore.Identity.Application | Keeps you logged in. Only set if you log in. | Until you log out or it expires |
All of them are needed for the site to work, so they need no consent. There are no advertising, social media or analytics cookies, and no scripts or fonts are loaded from other companies.
Bug reports, comments and email
If you send a bug report or a comment, we store what you write, the name you enter, an email address only if you give one, and any files you attach. Email addresses are used only to answer you or to tell you when your report changes, and are never shown to other visitors. If you email us, we keep the conversation as long as it is needed.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to the processing, and you can complain to your data protection authority. The visit statistics cannot be linked to you on purpose. For the security log, tell us your IP address and we can find and delete the lines for it.
Your choice
You have not chosen yet, so your visits are counted anonymously.
Credits
The country is found with the IP to Country Lite database by DB-IP.com (license: CC BY 4.0), which is kept on this server. Your address is not sent to DB-IP or to anyone else.
